Samoset Camps Alumni Association
Samoset Council, BSA was founded 90 years ago. Since it’s inception, Samoset has prided itself in providing the finest camping programs in Scouting nationwide, and along with fine programs, the best staff to carry out those programs! The SCAA encompasses the Crystal Lake Scout Reservation, comprised of Tesomas, Akela’s World and Hanna Venture Base. The SCAA also includes staff from Camp Chickagami and winter camp programs. Whether you worked one summer or 15 summers, we all have special memories of a place which changed our lives. The SCAA hopes to give you the opportunity to experience camp once again and to connect you with other alumni!
Akela's World Reunion, Saturday June 1, 2013
All former camp staff and their families are invited to camp for a 20 Year Reunion on June 1, 2013. The program will begin that morning with tours led by the current staff. They’ll show you how the facilities and program have evolved in the last 20 years. Many program areas, like the Fort and Crockett’s, will be open for your family to participate in what you used to be a part of (Sponge Wars cannot be explained, they have to be experienced). Lunch fashioned in Mark Program Center traditions will conclude the official reunion program to allow families with tuckered out kids to hit the road.
20 Dollars for 20 Years
Raised to Date: $2,270 | Donate Online
The SCAA is working to help fund new Akela’s World dining hall tables and to maintain the sponsoring of camp staff scholarships. Former camp staff are asked to contribute at least $20 to the SCAA for these projects to keep with the 20 years theme. You will be teaming with your fellow camp staff members from a five-year window you worked at the reservation. Your “era” will compete against others for the largest amount donated. Past camp directors will be spearheading the efforts for their years leading the camp.
- It has been a tradition for camp reunion participants to help provide a significant improvement to the celebrating camp. Akela’s World, in celebration of its 20 years, will be no exception to this tradition.
- Camp Staff Scholarships have been awarded annually by the SCAA to camp staff enrolled in a postsecondary education program who are exceptionally committed to the camp’s mission, but have financial needs exceeding what their summer salary can provide.

Support the SCAA
Whether you worked on camp staff, visited as a youth, volunteered as an adult leader, or continue to give back to scouting as a leader or volunteer with your own children, camp holds a special place in our hearts. We hope that you will join us on an annual basis in supporting the great work the current camp staff and volunteers continue to do year in and year out!
