Reunion Celebration a Success
Our recent gathering of alumni & friends and the kick-off of the alumni association was a great way to jump-start the 75th Anniversary of Camp Tesomas. The reunion weekend was filled with opportunities to “make new friends and old ones embrace”… fellowship, stories, pictures, slide show, memories booklet, monumental projects, time capsule opening, camp tours, memorabilia auction, banquet dinner, historical video, and a golf outing provided the chance to rekindle memories and look forward to the future.
With the completion of the reunion, comes a transition to the official Samoset Camps Alumni Association (SCAA). The SCAA is open to staff, leaders, campers, volunteers and friends of Tesomas, Akela’s World, Hanna Venture Base, Phillips, Flambeau and Chickagami. The purpose of the SCAA is keep alumni informed of annual camp happenings and “give back” to the camps that helped develop character, citizenship and personal fitness among ourselves and to thousands of other Scouts. To ensure the best possible programs, staff and facilities will continue to be offered within Samoset Council camps, the SCAA will be organizing activities that supplement the equipment and funding of the current camp operations. An official Board of Directors was elected at the reunion and will be unveiling many of their plans on this website soon.
We thank the many individuals and groups that contributed to the special 75th Anniversary projects and the coordinators of the reunion activities, and offer best wishes to the new SCAA officers as they begin to establish an organization that will “continue the legacy” for the next 75 years – stay tuned for more details.
