Projects
Living up to our pledge to support the operations of camp, the Alumni Association has chosen to sponsor two projects in this charter year, one each at both Tesomas and Akela’s World. Working with current camp staff and leadership, the Alumni Association has identified a program need at each camp that can realistically be supported by alumni donations, and made available for use in the upcoming summer camping season to have an immediate impact. The selected projects are program needs that would not otherwise be accomplished this year without alumni help.
For Tesomas, the Alumni Association would like purchase a set of river canoes. These canoes would replace at least a portion of the aging Waterfront fleet that has survived many years of swamping and flipping at the hands of Scouts earning their merit badges. Your donation to this project would ensure that Scouts have safe and reliable canoes with which to begin the summer.
For Akela’s World, we would like to purchase and install a new flagpole in the main camp parade grounds. The current flagpole, with its three separate lines, is often difficult for Cub Scouts to handle and control during flag ceremonies. The new flagpole would be more easily operated by Cub Scouts, giving them a greater sense of accomplishment in being able to successfully perform such an important role in camp life.
If you are financially able to support either one, or both, of these selected projects, please either donate online or print and return the donation form. This is a great opportunity for camp staff alumni to demonstrate to current camp staff and campers that we are still interested in making camp better each and every year, even in our absence.
